how do you set out maths exercises?

hey,

currently i'm using the old-school, rule line in the middle and dividing into two columns and working out there.
i have figured this wastes paper and resulting in the cramming of my work.
i hear some don't rule the page at all. for anyone that uses the no-ruling method how do you manage to keep your working-out organised?

Hey, for spesh I did exactly what you are trying to avoid haha.

Double sided, with a line ruled half-way making two columns per side of the page.

Worked fine for me

Fold your page down the centre instead of ruling them, and then you don't have a specific border that you definitely cant go over so you wont need to cramp problems, and should be okay for space, but it will still help to keep it neat.

I didn't do any ruling, just used the whole width.

I kept it neat by being neat, like making sure equals signs lined up and everything

At the start of the year when I'm very psyched for school, I use the two column layout. But then I get lazy so the layout changes to a single column around the middle of the year and by the end of the year, I use the no ruling method.

Mine isn't exactly neat because sometimes I do one question first before the other and end up being not in order. However, I do try and make columns even though I use the WHOLE page. Ruling doesn't work for me as in my opinion, paper is wasted.
