Well you have to beat 91% of people enrolled in the subject. No one can tell you if it's hard or easy, for some it might be one or the other. Generally it's accepted to be pretty hard.
Tips? Read and write as much as you can. I think there are some pretty in depth guides around the English forums.
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

it's a lot of consistent reading and writing, but a 40+ is manageable if you put in the time and effort that is required by all vce subjects!

Keep writing and keep asking for evaluation from your teacher, and improve on mistakes!

I have a friend who's been avg in english in a cohort which I think is relatively weak. However throughout the year (including summer holidays) he literally hc english and was one of the few people who were not discouraged when he didn't get the SAC mark he wanted (I think he was aiming for above avg, but sometimes he avged his SACs). He kept working and in the end I think he got 40. If he hadn't worked so hard he probably would've only gotten early 30s.

So yes with hardwork and preserverance you can (unless you're illiterate) achieve 40+. As for tips I would suggest that you regard English as your highest or one of your highest priorities. With that mentality you're just naturally inclined to work harder.

I got a 42 for English last year so its definitely achievable, as long as you continually put in the effort. Consistent application is the key to success in English :)
