Just wonder if anyone on here has successfully transferred from Monash to Melbourne Uni?
More specifically Monash Commerce to Melbourne Uni Commerce.
Can someone please tell me what the steps, chances and difficulties are?
I'm looking at transferring in semester 2.

Yep, i know plenty who transferred after completing a year at monash. I myself transferred from rmit. Just keep an average of above 75 (80 to be safe) and you should be competitive for a transfer. Also, make sure you satisfy the prerequisite vce subjects (english and methods with a ss of 25) before you make any applications.

Also, mid yr transfers are a bit trickier as your atar will be involved. Your atar and your 1st semester average will be weighted roughly 50:50, so if I assume you have a lower atar than 95 (2013 hurdle) than you will need a higher 1st semester average than 75. The actual average hurdle will depend on your atar - and unfortunately melb does not disclose much info in regards to mid yr transfers.

I transferred from Monash to Melbourne after a year with a 75 average. Had a significant upward trend though so not sure if it affected the chances of an offer.

Not really, for an undergrad degree - particularly in a b.comm; the name of the university does not really matter. People have this misconception that melb or monash is some sort of mythical place where graduates walk along some road paved in gold. Its NOT true.

As I keep telling high school kids fresh out of vce and brainwashed into thinking its melb or bust - if you spend your uni days pissing around and scraping along on a pass/credit average - the only certain position you will get is an exclusive spot in the centrelink line.

The only advantage melb has over other unis is a more competitive cohort that can drive you to do better. Otherwise, a b.comm , is a b.comm, is a b.comm - the course contents are heavily standardised (especially in majors like accouning and finance). If you land an interview at a firm having a pass/credit average and are up against a whizz kid from deakin with his list of HDs - you better have your bank details ready to bribe the recruitment officer.

PS: forgot to add - all transfers for melb undergrad degrees are handled through vtac.
