I was reading the sample questions here: http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Documents/exams/mathematics/mmcas1-sampfin-w.pdf

Q5, The right hand bit. Is this trig general solutions? If so, has any of these type of questions appeared in either exams ever? I cannot do these by hand very well but can easily use CAS to find the general solutions.

If any of these style of questions have been asked before, can you direct me to the exam question please. :)

Yup, it's general solutions. I don't remember if it's ever been on an Exam 1, but I'd certainly say it's possible. This question is actually a relatively easy one, and most Exam 1 questions aren't too complicated.
