2 modems in one house?

So I thought I would be getting decent internet connection with wired connection. My modem is in the living room and I need like a 20 metre long cable, which looks ugly going across the whole house. I have a telephone line plug in my room so I thought I could just get another modem, plug it in and use the internet just like using wifi. Is this possible? I have Telstra.

I'm fairly sure you can't have two ADSL modems on one phone line operating at the same time.

I agree with Lasercookie. I tried buying ADSL2+ a few years ago since the modem was in the kitchen and they said it wasn't possible.

I'm not sure, maybe you could run a new line though? It is best you call and ask your ISP if its possible, although it is expensive and they'll need to run a wire under (i think) your house.. I think.

Any particular reason you wont use wireless?

If you're building in new cables, wouldn't a better option be to have ethernet cables run through the walls of the house (and then just have a router)?

Would that be coming from the same modem? He said he has poor internet connection with that modem.

Why don't you replace the modem in the kitchen with a wireless router?

Yeah I thought of running some cables through the walls but not sure if I can do it by myself..one of the particular reasons is that I'm using a wifi extender thing atm..and the connection drops off sometimes...and the timing is often bad...I mean imagine that the connection drops off while doing an online assessment. So I want smooth connection. Also I can't play any online games on my ps3
