Feeling guilty for studying?

Okay, so in the past month or so my parents and other family members have been pressuring me to study less and spend more time relaxing...
I'm actually finding it really frustrating, I feel as if I do have a fairly balanced study to recreational time and I hold down a part time job, but every time I open my textbooks I can see my parents look at me disapprovingly and tell me I'm overdoing it, gaah!
Now with such a short amount of time left in year 12 I feel so helpless, I want to do as well as I can, but I just feel so bad every time I go to do some homework (another thing to note is that my parents did not finish high school, so dont totally understand how much time I should dedicate to my studies to do well)
Does anyone else's parents get like this?! I'm just really stuck over what to do :(

(Not sure if I've posted in the correct board, sorry!)

Hahahaha, my Dad had this extraordinary habit where every time I decided I needed a break he managed to say "should you be studying?" (and every time I was relaxing when I shouldn't have been, not a word was said) -- and every time I decided I needed to do a bit extra he'd say "remember to give your mind a rest". Somehow he never managed to say those things when I actually needed to hear them :P
Have you sat down to have an assertive conversation to your parents about it?
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

Simba, I started feeling this way towards the end of my uni exams.
I'd worked up so much stress about simply doing too much homework and not studying efficiently so my parents always kept asking me to take breaks.

Breaks are fine but they aren't something you should have ALL the time or else you won't get anything done!
In the end I think I took a little too many breaks towards the end and as a consequence some of my marks fell.

You are already more than halfway through! Make sure to have recreation time like on the weekends and a good sleep cycle. Just do most of your homework on weekdays so you have a little less to do on weekends and during that time it will be more rewarding to do something fun!

Edit: Maybe split your study time 50/50 with home and the library too! :)

Gah my Dad is like this, and it's stupidly annoying. I value uni greatly - he doesn't (probably because he's not paying for it); hence, he's always giving me shit like "why don't you ever do anything other than study?" right bang in the middle of SWOTVAC. Plz go away I'm studying.

Same as Brenden above though - and this is what makes the whole situation even dumber - because whenever I do take a break, he's on my case for not working. Whu?

I legit moved out of home for 3 and a bit months towards the end of VCE and through exams to get away from all the crap.

Oh that's unlucky as haha!
Yeah, I've tried to sit them down and have a serious discussion about it but it just goes in one ear and out the other. It doesn't help that the area I live in, and my cousins, friends, etc generally place a much different emphasis on education which make my views on how much I should be doing seem even more out of proportion to my parents!

Thank you for the advice! I don't really live near a library which is a bummer, but I've resorted to doing most of my homework when my parents aren't home! But I actually have taken a chill from studying these holidays which has gotten my parents off my back (slightly) and feel much more rested with no to minimal homework each day :)

Ah, that sucks man! That's actually one of the main reasons I'm looking at living on campus when I go to uni next year, I don't think I'll be able to cope with my parents breathing down my neck non stop :|

Coming from asian background I have always wanted one of my parents to tell me to "study less" but so far nothing yet  :( If you do get the opportunity to go out and fun then go right ahead! Don't neglect your studies obviously because you still have to be studious :)

I'm one of the few fortunate asians whose parents never really nag about my study. Occasionally, if they see me sitting down on my desk for like 10 hours straight they'll be like "you should get out and walk around for a bit, loosen up your shoulder" but that's pretty much it.

Anyway, don't feel guilty. Imagine how proud your parents will feel at the end of the year.
