Accommodation at Melbourne Universitiy

Even though I've still got some considerable time to go till finalising University and all, I was wondering what are options for accommodation at/near the University of Melbourne. I for one am personally hoping to get to say near the uni in a shared house/room/apartment, of both boys and girls. Mainly, just looking to make new friends and further expand social connections. Therefore, I was wondering if any fellow ATAR Notes users know of good locations to stay at.

If so, I'd appreciate if you'd describe the type of accommodation, how easy is it to meet new people, and if staying with several others is a good option, and whether you reckon it's worth it. Also, are there places like UniLodge, which is a community in itself? That seems really good.

All advice and information is happily accepted :)

Cheers!

If you're looking to expand social connections, definitely consider staying at a (one of the 12) residential college. You may not get to practice some of the more day-to-day duties immediately, such as cooking, but it's a great and easy way to meet new friends and transition from a high school environment.
