Time spent on sections

Hello everyone,

I was wondering, how much time would you recommend we spend in each section? I usually spend around 20 - 30 minutes on mcq, leave around 30-45 minutes for the extended response and the rest of the time is spent on short-answers.

Any recommendations? How long do you spend in each section when doing practice exams / what is the best schedule?

Thanks

* Multiple Choice - 1 Hour
* Short Answer - 60-70 Minutes
* Extended Response - 20-30 Minutes

Depends on how quickly you can do the Extended Response though. :)

I am gonna do 30mins on MCQ, 1hr and 30mins on short answer, and 30 for extened. Have you been doing practice exams yourself lately. It you have been, it should be easy to time yourself. It all depends on how confident you are in each section. Like are u best at MCQ or long answer? it all depends on you :)

30 Minutes for Multiple Choice Questions? Thats just under half a minute per question. Are you gonna do them in your head during Reading Time? ???

Btw, bit off topic, but would it be okay to use black fineliner in the exam for short-answer and extended-response? Or would that annoy the examiner somehow?

Thanks again!

I wouldn't recommend it because the paper is very thin, and if you use one it will appear on the other side of the page and will make it very hard for your examine to read, especially since they are scanned and sent to various examiners to mark.

But there's 65 this year that covers Units 3 and 4 content. But how long did it take you to do 45 Questions?

Oh true, probably like 20 mins not including the time I used during reading time. Although multiple choice on last years exam were fairly easy ? Probably recommend 45 mins on mutiple choice usually it doesnt take long to figure out which one is correct (recognition ;) )

Okay. Thanks. :)

If you don't mind me asking, how did you divide your Reading Time for each Section?

I read all mc and work out my answers, then start sa if I have time. That way in reading time can finish mc off in 15 minutes (still reading the question to be thorough) and focus on the rest of exam

It's okay. And bear in mind this depends on you as a person...I used like 5 mins to flick through the whole paper and see what I'm up against and so their we're no major surprises later. And then used the remainder time to start doing the multiple choice  also briefly figure out what to do for the extened response :)

well i am a quick reader, and during the 15 mins reading time, i can look at the questions and decide the answer in my head, then when writing starts, quickly colour the right bubble in
