It's better for your class to do well as a whole that well individually. You wouldn't get 49 I don't think, still it would be high, but your mark would be affected.

Well actually yeah. It might depend on indicative grades and GAT Scores as well.

1st and 2nd get a C? Hmm... you would probably get a 49. :)

Erm...we haven't been given enough information yet. For all we know, the A+ in the exams might be borderline A+. In which case you wouldn't make a 40 with three low A+'s. Then, as those in front of you apparently fail, your SAC grade will be affected.

Best to aim for 100% in the exam, stuff the cutoff and possible grades.

I think in a good way, but its a really complicated process that I don't even think VCAA knows. :P

Just do the best you can on the Exams, and let VCAA worry about the rest. :)

A specific percentage of students get A+ (usually about 9-10%).

Basically, A+ cuts for spesh exams are high these days coz they make the exams extremely easy.

What SS would I get if I'm ranked 3rd with 90% SACS and get A+ on both exams but 1st and 2nd rank get C?

It's actually not 1st or 2nd rank's exam grades that matter. You just need ANY OTHER two people to smash the exams to ensure your SAC scores don't drop.

How about abnormal results? Say the people ranked higher than you generally get higher scores, but the guy ranked above you screws up big time. Will that affect my results?

Maybe a little, if there isn't another person who is ranked below you in SACs who does better than you in the exam.

Isn't that sort of funny though, that you need someone below you in SACs to beat you in the exam for your marks not to be affected?

That's not true, and an oversimplification of statistical moderation.
