how to increase GPA for Bsc

hey guys, i'm currently doing bachelor of science, 2014 sem 1 will be my last sem and i'll be taking 3 subjects,
in order to get into the honors i have to get GPA 65 which i have only 63,
i wanna know what can i do to get GPA 65 other than scoring around 90 for each subject next sem (which is kinda impossible)?
can i retake a subject that i've passed just to get a higher score?
or the Community Access Program?

another case:
if i do another similar degree after this degree,
if they have same subjects they'll be exempted, right?

is it possible to do a second degree after this? whats the requirement?

You can do a second degree but you generally don't get more than about 1 out of 3 years worth of credit unless it's like exactly the same degree just at a different Uni. Why would you do a degree that's the same anyway?
You can't retake a subject you've already passed afaik.
CAP isn't really an option either unless perhaps you take an easy subject, do well, and try and replace one of your bad subjects with it. But that would require checking with the Science Student Centre...

Aren't you referring to overall average rather than GPA?

Best bet is take some really easy breadths. Remember third year is weighted more than second and second more than first~

BelVP that's not true for Honours all years are equally weighted but your two lowest subjects from either first or second year (not third year) are excluded from the SGPA calculation.  And for Honours applications in MDHS SGPA is used not weighted average.
Birzzle were you aware that your two lowest subjects are excluded from the GPA?  Perhaps this might help.  All of your third year subjects must count, though.  I would try my hardest to get H1s in Semester 1 2014 and then talk to potential supervisors that might be willing to take you on with an average below 65.  It's not so far below 65 that it is unreasonable imo.

Pretty sure the MDHS SGPA is still a weighted average otherwise I'm screwed.

Quote
The SGPA is the weighted grade point average of the most recent 300 points of a completed tertiary degree, but excluding 25 points of subjects with the lowest results within the earliest 200 points.

mini I'm relatively sure that's not the case.  That method is used in Medicine but not elsewhere, as far as I know.  As Melbourne sees it, a 'weighted average' refers to:
'The grade weighted average weights subjects to reflect their credit point value. This is calculated by multiplying the mark received for each subject against that subject's credit point value. Each multiplication is then added together and then divided by the total amount of credit points for subjects undertaken.'
The term is just used to ensure that say, Biomed HSF, is weighted more heavily than a 'normal' 12.5 subject because it's worth double the points.

All years will be counted equally under this scheme.

You're welcome to enquire though?

Also keep in mind OP that just because the minimum is 65 does not guarantee you a place in Honours.  In my department the official minimum is 65 but the department sets a minimum of 75.

Edit: here is a backup from the official policy:

'c)     The SGPA will be calculated as a credit-point weighted average of the remaining 275 points.' which reiterates what I said before.
