my GPA average for first year is just a 6. I feel that I've tried my best, but wasn't good enough to belt out any H1s. I don't think i can get to 6.5+ average which is competitive for graduate medicine, as second and third year isn't going to get any easier. I tried so hard, such only to manage H3s this semester and feel such as failure :(  I poured my heart out this semester, but nothing has worked out.

I went through this last semester, I chose really stupid subjects and so only got average-ish scores. You've just got to find your strengths and weaknesses, remember strengths include the subjects you enjoy. Use this year to guide you for your further studies (remember it only counts 18%). What were your subjects? People might know the best approach to studying those kind of subjects. Most subjects are generally just writing good notes (using both the the lecture notes/ tute notes AND the textbook, the latter definitely boosted my marks), reading your notes lots and lots (with the appropriate breaks of course!) and prac exams (My method was to cover lectures during the day, prac exams during the night on the content I studied in the day).
2012-2014. BSc: Neuroscience. University of Melbourne.
2015-2018. Doctor of Optometry. University of Melbourne.

Unlikely to respond to any PMs these days.

I think I spent too much time writing notes down, instead of reading them over and further my understanding of the content.  So i shall improve on that aspect. As for maths, i needed to do more problems, so far my first semester, my marks are first semester,  77 H2A, 73 H2B, 73 H2B, 73 H2B,  and second semester:  68 H3,  68 H3  68 H3 and one more I haven't got back. and I feel really bad about myself and I want to improve on the results. I'm pretty sure, your first years results were much better, and that most would have better results than mine.

But I felt as though my first sem in second year results weren't too great and they are weighted like first year grades

Heck, my worst result at uni was in my first year. I think a lot of people are that way. You get used to stuff and you get smarter at choosing subjects/understanding the flow of the semester.

Some important things to keep in mind:
-Just because you didn't perform well this year doesn't mean you can't next year. Every day is a new slate.
-Medicine at Melbourne isn't the only option if you want to become a doctor.
-Medicine isn't the only career option that may appeal to you.

My worst results at uni were my first year (Arts).
I also had worst results of my Science degree in the first semester of first year of the degree.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.  And you will definitely recover :)

That's between a credit and a distinction (much closer to a distinction). Whilst it varies from uni's how that transfers into a percentage, i think a credit almost falling over the line to a distinction is pretty good all things considered. I know many people scraping passes and have a fair few fails. I reckon i'd say you're more or less the same as you'd expect an average student to be.

Whether its in line with your expectations or goals is a whole other question but you're definitely no worse to the average student (considering you're nearing D average, maybe a bit above too).
