Aggregate points
« on: December 16, 2013, 10:45:47 pm »
i got an atar of 85.05  :) and my top preference is mechanical engineering at rmit with a clearly in atar of 85.9 last year, but it says a score of 25 in spesh will give you one aggregate point and same for physics/chem so does that mean effectively my score is 87.05 when applying to rmit? What do you think my chances are?

Aggregate point is not the same thing as ATAR, just an FYI.

It means for example if you got 25 in spesh, instead of it being a [whatever it is after scaling], its that + 1.

Imagine: Aggregate 100=atar 95 and Aggregate 101=97

Imagine for aggregate result (top 4 + 10 percent of 5th/6th subject) was 100 that gave you an ATAR of 95. Whenever you qualify for an extra bonus point, an extra point is added onto to your aggregate for example if you only got >25 in spesh one point would be added onto your aggregate. Then you will be on 101 and your ATAR used to get into mechanical engineering would be 97 as per this hypothetical example.
