Correlation between GAs and score? Please explain
« on: December 16, 2013, 07:42:09 pm »
Hi, I'm in year 11 and I still have no idea how the system works.

One of my subjects I undertook this year was Indonesian (SL), and even though my GA1, GA2 and GA3 were all A+, I received a 43. It's not a bad score, but just trying to gauge how I need to work next year for year 12, it's confusing me a little!

So I sat very comfortably throughout the year with a couple of perfect scores for my SACs, and placed #1 at one of Victoria's four selective schools. In the previous forum, it says the score is judged by cohort strength and difficulty of subject, so I thought I'd just score a bit higher.

I was hoping someone could clarify the correlation between the GAs with the study score, just so I can improve on that next year!

Thanks a lot!

Put really simply, GA 1 and 2 are dependent on GA 3. So, I'd assume that the 43 was in a large part due to the GA 3 mark being lower than you expected.
Note that there are distinctions in the level of A+ which you get - e.g. you could get A+ A+ A+ and get a 38, whereas someone else could get A+ A A+ and get a 44 (which has happened). It is probably this distinction that may have lowered your score a bit. Nonetheless, 43 is an excellent score and congratulations on it! :)
