How does middle band work ? Just say for a course the cleary-in is 57.00 and my ATAR is 50(102.6 aggregate).Having a look at the middle band I have earned 4 points. Does this mean my ATAR increases to 54.00 or 53.40(106.6 aggregate) ?
Course selection officers identify those applicants whose year 12 results are such that they will receive an offer. These applicants are ''clearly in''. Selection officers then identify applicants whose results are too low for that course and eliminate them from selection into that course. These applicants are ''clearly out''.
The remaining applicants are in the middle-band and are given further consideration (re-ranked) according to the published middle-band criteria and other entry scheme criteria for each course.
Answering your question, yes, if you get into the middle-band then your chances will increase (in that your aggregate will increase by 4) but the middle band. However for courses that require extra requirements such as folio presentations, interviews, and supplementary forms; these will also be used in the middle-band selection process.
