Monash or Melbourne?

Hi,

I am having trouble deciding on my first VTAC preference, so some advice would be appreciated.

At present, I have Melbourne commerce as my first preference, followed by arts (global)/commerce and arts/law at Monash (these were troll preferences when I put them in). I'm from Queensland and got an OP3 (somewhere between ATAR 96.00- 97.95 i think), though I was expecting a little higher (that's not the point of this). It was always my plan to do Melbourne commerce and hope to get into the JD, but after a bit of thought about long-term financial cost, the risk involved regarding JD entry, and the degree itself (I'd always wanted an arts-focused degree), I have been reconsidering this choice. Ideally, I would like to do Monash arts/law, but that's a 98 so I've sort of ruled that out. A course that really interests me is the arts (global)/ commerce one, which I should have no problems getting into, with the possibility of upgrading to arts/law after the first year.

So, with this in mind, my questions is, should make arts (global)/commerce at Monash or Melbourne commerce my first preference?

Not sure on the first bit, but Arts (Global) is basically just Arts with a forced major that you can do voluntarily anyway (with forced travel, which you can also do anyway), as far as I know.

If I were in your position I'd go for the double degree and try to transfer, particularly if you're interested in an Arts focused degree. Even straight Arts at Monash is feasible (Monash instead of Melbourne so you can internal transfer instead of external). But yeah I'd definitely go the double.

Also, if your dream course is Arts/Law then you should put that as your first preference, even if you don't think you'll get in. Nothing to lose.
