Please help!

I'm a little stuck with all these devices:
phototransitor what is that? how does it work? what does it do?
whats the difference between phototransitor and transistor, i know one is how the current is produced but i'm told to list at least three :(
and The base current in a phototransistor is produced by light shining on the collector–base junction giving sufficient energy for... not sure how to finish this?

physics 3/4 is alot harder than 1/2...

it's so hard....
