How to prepare for year 12 english?

Hey guys

I'm in year 11, and I want to do really well in English in year 12.  I've always gotten good marks in english (90+), and been top of the class. In year 10, I had a teacher for one half and got 75 on the mid year exam.  For the next half, I had a different teacher and got 96.  I wrote to the same standard. The teacher who gave me 96 was not an easy marker either.  And we also had another teacher during the year and he gave me over 90's.

In year 11, I've gotten relatively okay results.  On the exam, I attained 74.  I'm not quite sure if it's my ability or the teacher, because they all have different ways they like students to write.  Other students are getting 90's and I used to get the same marks as these girls... I'm worried that in year 12, I will score poorly (60's/70's). My goal is to get over 40/45 at least.

Anyway, my teacher said I need to fix my essay structure.  Can someone give me any tips on how to write an amazing text response? I know I'm capable and I'm willing to work very hard. 

Does anyone have any tips to generally improve English skills? What can I do in year 11?

i reckon just keep doing essays , look online read others essays theres nothing else really, just keep spamming essays

I agree and disagree with this point. Churning out 100+ essays isn't going to do you much if it's not good quality or if you're not getting good feedback on it (which I'm sure you won't do but some people I know just write essays because they have to and don't get it marked or anything)... having said that, reading other essays and learning from the is a great place to start!

More or less, read your novels, annotate them and when reading any sort of writing you have done, read it out loud so you proofread but also check for fluency (if that happens to be a problem for anyone) are just some general tips I can come up with

Yeah exactly, you'll have to have them checked by a teacher, or even ATARnotes. Ive been getting 98s for my essays and 100 for the exam, how? keep practicing, just like your maths, science , business subjects you need to apply you knowledge and unfortunately in english that is writing a whole essay! maybe you could get a prompt and write a paragraph on it, have it checked, write another paragraph making sure you bulletproof your structure that way.
