Hey, i was wondering when it would be appropriate to start UMAT preparation? i have all the resources such as medentry, plenty of exams etc, but i think?? its still in six months, is it too early at the moment? Some people start few weeks earlier and end up getting way better scores then some who start in year 9-10.

Again, i've heard it cannot "explicitly" be studied for, but really more preparing. There is one section though? im not sure which.

Thanks

There's three sections in UMAT to which you're referring to Section 3 which is the 'Non-verbal Reasoning' (with all the patterns and whatnot). The other two sections you can prepare for (like speed-reading and understanding people in real life etc.) but through practice and techniques, Section 3 is the one you can definitely prepare for.

Really it's up to you when you start preparing as some take longer than others whilst some take less time so do what you feel is right :)

Personally I'll be starting towards the end of January and I'll go at my own pace before increasing the workload once SACs and assessments have past by (since my main priority is to "study" for my VCE subjects rather than to limit myself to just finishing "holiday homework" :P )

Lots of people have adviced me to treat the umat as another subject. Except you dont have any sacs and the big exam is in July. Also, focus more on the practice exams rather than the medentry drills since that is what will prepare you for the actual umat.

Have a search on the forum, this question is asked at least 5 times a year for the last 4-5 years.
