Hi!
My problem is that I analyse too much and often one technique could occupy half a page...

Any suggestions on ways to be more concise when writing language analysis?
All helps are appreciated! Thanks!

Instead of basing your paragraphs on techniques, base your paragraphs on the author's main arguments. For each body paragraph, start by briefly describing one main argument, such as "Wallace outlines that the manufacturing of iPhones is releasing tonnes of toxic factory fumes into the atmosphere, sickening our natural environment" and then write about all of the persuasive techniques used by the author to persuade the readership/audience BRIEFLY, take evidence of the techniques being used in the text and then follow that up by describing the effect this technique has on the reader/listener. For example..."...tonnes of toxic fumes are being released into the atmosphere from factories manufacturing iPhones, this use of statistical evidence shows the magnitude of damage that this is causing to our natural environment and allows the reader to visualize the amount of fumes that are being released into the atmosphere and associate it with too much, and so believe that the manufacture of iPhones should come about from some other means that is environmentally conscienciouss". Just do that for each technique, if you think you are still writing too much, try only analysing the techniques that persuade the most rather than every technique .

Thank you very much doomdestroyer!!!
I apologise that I have mislead you.
I always write the author's main point, then a specific example, its effect towards the reader and how does this effect occur.
My problem is that one specific example could take me half a page to analysis, from its connotation to its discourse implication and to its effect on the reader about the main point.
I feel it's too long and too time consuming.
Also, I have asked my teacher, she said I have to give out at least two examples on each main point, which means that it could be an entire page for each paragraph, there's no way I can finish 3 and 1/2 pages of language analysis on time.
My teacher's advice on concise writing is to do more practise, but I just feel there's something very important missing here, maybe a key solution or an idea...
p.s. I'm an EAL student, the language analysis is slightly different to Mainstream English, but an extra task of N.F.S makes the time more nervous...
