a 92/100-93/100 i think it was, should be able to net you a 40+ provided good ranking.

Also was wondering what people will be doing tonight/tomorrow morning, are you guys just gonna stop like by a certain time so you can relax?

Last years A+ cutoff for exam 1 was 92.5%. That means the top 10% of students last year got 92.5% or above on their first exam. However the A+ cutoff for exam 2 was only 85%.

So to get into the top 10% you had to score 92.5% on the first, and then 85% on the second exam. A study score of 40 correlates to the top ~9 (?) % of students and therefore pretty much have to get into the A+ region to get a 40. So with 90% on both, it's pretty hard to tell but a 90% on exam 2 might make up for a 90% on exam 1 but again, shit is hard to tell.

I'll probably stop around midday tomorrow. Not sure what I'm gonna do in the morning though - read over notes and find questions I have trouble with?  Probably chill on ATARnotes for a while hopefully giving help to others.

A fair few people from my school have Biology in the morning, but yeah I had Methods at 3 something last year, and it's such a drag- I would recommend getting a sleep in and just relaxing, maybe re-do some tricky questions you've had trouble with before and maybe go for a walk/run or something. I tried to study before the exam, and it didn't work, I was just so distracted.

Nah there not

exams are composed of around 66-67% of your study score.
the exam is composed itself of 100 marks. Multiple choice contributes of 40, and SA contributes of 60. So their not 50/50 in terms of your exam overall mark

Just checked the VCAA Further maths page, in the maths assessment handbook's last few pages it says that each exam contributes 33% to the final study score,

http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Pages/vce/studies/mathematics/further/furthermathindex.aspx#H2N10073   -  found it here, under assessment - assessment handbook.

Yep,

Each exam is 33%. So your mark out of 40 for exam 1 will be 33%, and your mark out of 60 for exam 2 will be 33%.

Technically, losing marks in exam 1 is worse than losing marks in exam 2 because there are less marks available for the same 33%.

All the best for tomorrow's exam!

Any final tips for tomorrow? Anything you feel is a necessity to have on my bound book?

Going in with 96% average and rank 3 in my cohort, I'm pretty nervous

haha same here, rank 2 though ;) ;)

just a quick year 7 question. If a question says this is in $'000s, does this mean something that is 17.3, is in fact 173 000 ? or 173 00 ? just a bit unsure. And how are we meant to enter it and express is, in the 173000 form or 17.3 form ? this was on one of the vcaa exams in the past so just clearing up on it.

Cheers

Not sure off the top of my head - but, the assessment report for that year should have a comment on the appropriate way to answer.

Yes, this is fine.
