To everyone who was slightly bemused by today's revealing of results, let me share some advice with you. Do not even allow anything to stop you from being you, but most importantly do not allow anything to affect what you want to accomplish. A dream is a dream... regardless of the difficulty to obtain it, a dream is a dream... You should do whatever it takes to achieve that dream, and keep pushing forward until that dream is in arms reach from you!

Alright, maybe your ATAR did not satisfy that dream, but theres two ways to view everything. LEARN from your mistakes! LEARN from your downs! If it were not for our mistakes people like me and you would not be learning anything new, we would not be improving. To be immune to mistakes is wonderful, but guess what? We are all humans, and we are all equally capable of making mistakes. So keep your head up, and keep reassuring yourself that the only way for growth is through hardships, and that the only way to truly succeed is to fail.

Unfortunately I wasnt allowed to do a 3/4 in year 11. Yes, I was pissed at everything, but ultimately it changed me so much and it completely reversed my mentality. Sometimes, a bad situation may be the best thing that might happen to you!!

How did you go, thanks the real question!

That's actually really inspiring. You're clearly really dedicated and that's absolutely true. Even if you hadn't taken a 3&4 in year 11, studying your other subjects can really prepare you well for year 12 :)

I wish I hadn't taken any 3&4s - I didn't do so well to be honest but then again, looking at the bright side, it's definitely a major wake-up call for me so I'll remember this day as one that changed me forever too :)

Very good article here if anyone's interested: http://www.theage.com.au/national/education/attack-of-the-atars-20141214-11z16n.html

Reiterates what I hope has been made very clear on AN:
Quote
Towards the middle of December an extraordinary amount of press coverage will be given to the release of a set of numbers ranging from 0 to 99.95. These numbers, statistically modified, crunched, quantified, drawn and quartered, will assume, momentarily, the aegis of divine lightning when they strike as texts at 7am on a specified date.

Fortunately these numbers are only briefly prophetic. They indicate the score that a student has been given for their year's work in VCE. These numbers have been bureaucratically contrived to sort and measure and rank students for the next stage of their lives. They are simply a crude academic assessment of how well some students have managed to game the system that purports to classify them.

These numbers should have a disclaimer added that informs the recipient that they are so much more than this arbitrary figure suggests. This number only tells a half-story based on the subjective measurements of course achievement, indicative grades, an ability to retain and regurgitate the answer the assessor is looking for, all thrown into a mathematical blender to come up with a score. This number says nothing about all the other things that really matter; all the other things that make up a successful education...

Y'all are so supportive and motivating. I seriously needed this today  :).All of these posts have been reminding me there is still hope.
Its interesting, actually , I got the same SS for both my 3/4, but one has made me proud and the other devastated, so I have been having a really weird mix of emotions.
Happy , sad. Ok, worlds over . Its been a cycle on repeat.
And this has seriously reminded me that I can change things next year.
Thanks  :) :) :) :)
