Nice ways to describe horses

For my oral presentation I will be talking about horse racing. For dogs its easy to use words with positive connotations to describe/refer to them eg. man's best friend, loyal companion.

I'm having a harder time with horses, all I could come up with was majestic animals. Of course that is too cheesy. Any ideas?

They definitely are majestic animals, what about the words 'Elegant' or 'Proud'??
