How do preferences work?

My first pref requires an ATAR lower than my second and third preferences, however, I've made the clearly-in for all three. How will the order of my preferences affect my chances of getting an offer for that of my 2nd and 3rd?

VTAC will give you one offer, and that will be for the course highest on your preference list that you qualify for.

By the sounds of it, if clearly-ins don't change too much you'll get your first preference and the other two will be ignored.

You will only have 1 offer at a time. But if you want to get your second preference, you can choose negotiate offer when the 1st round offer is released, which means you are accepting the first preference but in 2nd round, if you are lucky, you will get your 2nd preference.

If you really get above the clear in, you are almost guaranteed to get your 2nd preference.
