From what I recall, on a whole, pencil is compulsory for the MC sheet (your assessors will mention this - this also goes for most Multiple Choice sheets in exams. Pencil specifications: HB or 2B, I think preferred but not mandatory? Just as long as it's dark enough for the computer to read it. Use common sense - don't use Fs or 6Hs.) and you may use pen or pencil for the rest as you wish, as far as I can recall. Naturally being a pencil type of person, I just did everything in HB pencil and that was fine.

2014 VCAA Navigator. That should sort out some of the little questions you have for all subjects. There will be an updated Exam Navigator when the time draws closer, but I doubt it would change much (bar the timetable, of course).
