Do we have to use a pen in the Methods exam or can I use a pencil?

What If I make a mistake (especially when drawing graphs)?

Thanks for the help!

I believe it's fine to use a pencil??

I believe teachers would recommend you to do pencil anyway in case of mistakes??

the only reason you'd use a pen is cos pencil can rub off quickly

but it's maths...

From what I recall, on a whole, pencil is compulsory for the MC sheet (your assessors will mention this - this also goes for most Multiple Choice sheets in exams. Pencil specifications: HB or 2B, I think preferred but not mandatory? Just as long as it's dark enough for the computer to read it. Use common sense - don't use Fs or 6Hs.) and you may use pen or pencil for the rest as you wish, as far as I can recall. Naturally being a pencil type of person, I just did everything in HB pencil and that was fine.

I believe you can check some of these sorts of things here: VCAA Authorised Materials and last year's VCAA Exam Navigator: 2014 VCAA Navigator. That should sort out some of the little questions you have for all subjects. There will be an updated Exam Navigator when the time draws closer, but I doubt it would change much (bar the timetable, of course).

It's not like you're going to be penalized and be given a zero if they see you've used pencil, so you can if you want to. But it's just safer to use pen in case the pencil marking wears off and the assessor can't read your writing anymore
