I don't know, if I actually do count  :P

From my Year 10 exams (legit exams), I gained a valuable experience of strategising and planning ahead. I also found that studying at the last minute, was never the best option, as whenever i studied in those times, I never gained an exceptional Mark (in any of the subjects). In this situation, teachers may also feel that, you are quite unprepared for SACs and/or other assessed tasks, as you would usually feel stressed in these kind of situations (stress management is extremely important!).

I would also suggest to atleast solve for 3-4 questions (different difficulty) for each sub-topic (especially for maths), as it always helped me.  :)

Great tips! I also could have done HEAPS better in Year 10 had I actually stopped cramming... :-\

(Also, Happy New Year everyone! ;D)

Things that worked for me: ensuring I understand concepts, putting in a consistent effort throughout the year.
Things that did not work: leaving some studying for SACs to the day before

Lesson: start preparing for SACs and exams as early as possible

Bump :)

Does anyone have any tips on what they could have done to do better throughout the year, or the parts they had most trouble with in regards to studying, homework, tests/exams, etc.?

Hiya!

Personally my problem last year was procrastination and not prioritising my 3/4 subject when SACs or the exam came around. I guess finding the time (even if it's for half an hour or so!) to read over notes or do some revision questions without any distractions can really be surprisingly helpful, especially when you reach the time of the year when assignments and other assessments from your Year 11 subjects start to pile up.

Thanks, this is a great tip! finding time to balance all your subjects is something I know a lot of people struggle with (including me) :P

I think the poll is slightly flawed in that it only allows five selections. I didn't do VCE last year, but of those options, I did the following:

- Rewrote key parts in the textbook;
- Used cue cards or flashcards;
- Drew what I learnt in a mind map or brain storm;
- Did practice tests/exams for preparation;
- Re-read class notes;
- Wrote summaries from every class every chapter;
- Asked my teacher to mark practice tests or exams that I did;
- Asked my teacher for help when I needed it;
- Found study material alternative to my school textbook in the library or on the internet;
- Took regular breaks;
- Set up a to-do list; and
- Taught somebody else what I had learnt.

Most important ones in bold.
