List of possible metalanguage for text response essays...

Hi guys. So (as you may be able to tell from my username/avatar) I'm pretty much your typical maths/science (but mostly maths :P ) student struggling with English. At this point, I feel like I'd be happy with anything above a 30, and absolutely ecstatic with anything 35+. Anyway, I was wondering if there's a list (preferably of a reasonable size) of possible metalanguage for use in VCE essays (I'm doing Burial Rites and Medea if that helps). I've got the basic words (E.g. protagonist, narrative, novel), but I'm really looking an extensive list. I've tried googling similar things with no luck, so I was hoping AN could help... Thanks everyone :)

An easy way to start incorporating metalanguage is to read through glossaries like the ones posted above, taking note of terms you think apply to your novels, and then go through an essay you've written, replacing casual language you've used with the metalanguage.
For example, instead of saying "The characters discuss the issue, showing the reader how..." etc. you can insert metalanguage such as "The dialogue reveals".
Repeat this process until you've got a few pieces of metalanguage per paragraph, which can lead to a much stronger essay and better marks :)
