Monash Medicine - NEW

My sister just got a letter from Monash University and well, she did not get an offer for an interview for medicine.
There was something at the bottom of the letter that seemed, well new.

NEW: Not invited for an interview but expecting an ENTER of 99.95? Any applicant for Monash medicine who is offered a Monash Scholarship for Excellence will be guaranteed a Monash Medicine Interview (if not offered one previously) if they have achieved a UMAT overall score of 50 or greater. These scholarships are offered to eligible students who have achieved an ENTER of 99.95 or its equivalent. Applicants who think this might apply to them should not remove Monash from their preferences until they know the outcome of their Yr 12 results. Scholarship applications are made via VTAC and close on 30th October 2009.

Any thoughts?

Kinda defies the whole principle of implementing the UMAT in the first place if they're going to do this =S Wonder where they'll start drawing the line for these 'exceptions' in future.
