Hey guys, sorry for the clunky title,
Soooooo I was disappointed with my UMAT score since I failed a section.
However, my tutor gave the uni a call and found out... the 50/50 rule will not be in practice for 2017 entry.?
Also, the brochure doesn't mention the 50/50 rule anymore http://www.med.monash.edu.au/medicine/admissions/documents/2017-domestic-brochure.pdf

I am probably being optimistic since I don't know why they would suddenly drop the 50/50 rule. But my tutor said he spoke with the faculty themselves and he is positive they are removing the 50/50 rule for this year.

Can someone please clarify this since so I am getting mixed information from different people and i am so confused hahaha.

When I attended the open day, I was informed by one of the 'lecturers' (if that is the correct term), that to be considered I would need 50/50/50 across all sections of the UMAT. This is what I was told from someone in the department, who seemed to know the various ways to get into medicine and their requirements.

I bombed the last section, achieving 44.

I may be the tutor you're referring to and i have a feeling you are the student i spoke to regarding this hahaha.

For anyone else who may be having these concerns about the 50/50/50 rule, i would say i'm 90+% confident it has been removed and apparently was removed from last year.

I spoke with someone from admissions within the faculty last week as well as heard this in an information seminar earlier in the year. So, let's cross our fingers and hope for the best!
