Subject selection advice

year 11:
-biol 3/4
-physics 3/4
-lit
-meth
-vis com
-chem
-italian

year 12:
-lit 3/4
-meth 3/4
-vis com 3/4
-chem 3/4
-italian 3/4
-spesh 3/4

over reaching? If I could do all these I would (probs) but probably too many subjects in y11.

reckon someone could cope with biol and phys 3/4 in year 11? imagine yourself doing that, approve or disapprove?

btw wanna be a renewable energy engineer, am doing biol because I thought it would be helpful in that career (finding biological solutions to development of energy) - yay or nay to doing biol?

subject selections up soon :(

MOD EDIT: Made the title more clear (nice try with the clickbait though :P )

nothing wrong with those two 3/4 subjects in year 11, but there is an issue with you doing 6 in year 12 following that. only 6 subjects count to you atar, so there is no point doing a 7th or 8th. that said, definitely pick 2 out of the 6 you have assigned for year 12 and get rid of them as they will do no help to you. if you wanna be an engineer, spesh and chem will be helpful, you need methods and also need an english so that just leaves vis comm and italian to be cut out.

also with your title you are more likely to get people to help you if you have a title that represents your issue LOL people on atarnotes tend to be quite helpful and i feel you wouldve had more responses by now if you did that from the start haha
anyway good luck with everything

Just to reinforce what Spectroscopy said, I would strongly recommend against doing 8 subjects all up. I definitely understand the desire to learn lots (which is awesome) - however realistically, I think you're definitely overdoing it by doing two 3/4's in year 11, and then another six in year 12. I find that one of the best things about doing two 3/4's in year 11 is that my workload is significantly reduced, which enables me to spend more time focusing on each of my 4 subjects this year - rather than trying to balance my time and effort across 5, or even 6 subjects.
And as Spectroscopy said, 2 of those subjects wouldn't count towards your ATAR (and although the focus of school is to learn), I think you'll find that the extra stress and pressure just isn't worth it - especially when you have SACs and exams left right and centre.

Best of luck! :)

Okay haha thanks for changing the title.

Thanks for the advice! Very good. I've decided to not do Italian. Talked with my teacher said it was something I could continue outside of school and I agree.

I wanted to do the subjects cause I was interested in dem (not atar) but I see your point (stressss). Seeing as physics, chem, biol are pretty much learn and do, I still want to have some creativity in my subjects cause I'm like that.

Vis com is still a go i reckon. I love maths so I think my year 12 ( meth, spesh, vis com etc.) will be fun and I wont find it difficult to learn.

Thanks for helping!

Can i ask what subjects you did in high school?

how's viscom for you this year? i heard the folio takes a lot of time. maybe you can take 5 subjects in year 12 but focus more on 4 subjects and treat the other one as backup.
