I currently volunteer at an opp shop. I'm not sure how good it will look on a resume yet as I haven't started looking for an actual paid job yet, but the other volunteers are really friendly and willing to help, I've now got experience handling cash and working on register, and hours are really flexible, and you can pretty much do what suits you. I've been doing 3 hours Saturday since August, so it wasn't too much that it would impact studies (not that it matters too much any more with exams approaching the end), but enough to learn the ins and outs of place and get some experience before I start looking for paid work.

Also, there are heaps of opportunities on job website (e.g. seek), where you can put in your specific location and all
Hope that helped :)

Perhaps see if there are any local eco-groups that could use some spare hands! Else, local libraries or schools might be wanting someone older like you to "tutor" primary school students by helping them read books outside of class, but maybe even in class.

I love https://www.volunteer.com.au/ (specify your postcode for location-specific opportunities) because it's so broad-ranging and you can pick your interests!  Has linked me with great things before, which you may enjoy more than, say, op-shop work. :)

This is really cool Heidi! Especially coming up to Christmas. I've just had a quick look and the need for volunteers coming towards Christmas is really strong. Thanks for sharing!

I just want to take the opportunity to say that if there are people looking to volunteer to add to their CV - make sure you're working part-time before you think about volunteering, because the former is probably going to be a lot more beneficial if you had to choose one.
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

I currently volunteer at the local library and donate blood. They don't take long, its generally about an hour shift at the library and its extremely rewarding, especially when you meet fellow book lover volunteers who read the same books as you.  :)

I don't know if tutoring is something that your interested in doing but if you want to do some volunteering that'd be extremely rewarding but will  also look good on a tutoring resume you can tutor refugee and migrant kids in literacy and other subjects through The Smith Family :) I don't think you need any teaching experience, but you do need to be over 18. Hope this helps! Here's the link to their website:

volunteer in what you're passionate about. I have no career interests in human rights, but I'll campaign hard for refugee and child rights
