Probably a silly question about calculus, but...

I was wondering, in an equation such as

Differentiate (for example) sin ((pi x) / 3)

Is the pi a constant? Or not?

In other words, is my differentiated answer 1/3 sin ((pi x) /3) or pi/3 sin ((pi x)/3)?

pi/3 is a constant.

Yep pi is a constant.

Don't forget that if the angle is in degrees, you need to convert the constant to radians and then bring it to the front. Eg. dy/dx of y =sin(x degrees) is not equal to dy/dx = cos x; it is equal to pi/180 cos(x degrees).
