Can you transfer from Science to Biomedicine Midyear? ( Monash)

Hey guys,
I have the atar for Biomed but I really prefer doing a semester of science then transferring into biomed, is that possible? And what units do I need to take for it to happen?
Sorry I tried to research this myself but it's super confusing. :/

yeah i'm pretty sure this is possible (check it officially with monash though) you will need a decent WAM however if you are considering post-grad med at monash you will not be eligible for the 50 places allocated for solely monash biomed students.

What is your reasoning behind doing 1 semester of science? A particular subject you want to do?

Hi,
Out of curiosity, why would u like to do this?
i feel like it might actually delay your course a bit (if they don't give u credit for the science subjects). I'm not sure how true this is (someone else pls correct me)  but I'm reasoning  that cause those core units gotta be done to graduate and there only held in semester 1, u would be like a tad bit delayed. I guess you wouldn't need the semester 1 units to do semester 2 units,  but then you might have to complete them the following year. Maybe if you really really really would like to do science, maybe do biomed/sci and then drop the science. That way you would've started some of the cores and wouldn't have too much to catch up on. Also (i think) if u do this u will probs still be eligible for the 50 places for med, if ur interested.

Hope this helps  :)

I kinda want a semester to figure out what I want to do, but like I would like to be able to fall back on biomed.
Oh? So I am not elligible for that? How come? Do I need to be in biomed from the beginning? Or if I transfer into 2nd year will I be eligible?

You should do biomed/science double and then drop the science

Could you also possibly do the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Biomedical Science double degree and drop the bachelor of science if you don't like it.

Edit: Opps didn't realise yazzman posted the same idea before me my bad

Hey guys!

So I'm interested studying biomedicine next year but I wish to pursue medicine in the future.

However, one thing that confuses me this year when I took the UMAT was that there were some candidates (that were already Biomedicine students ) taking the UMAT. I thought you should take the GAMSAT or etc, if you are already a biomed student wanting to pursue medicine. Or are they trying to obtain a high UMAT score and reapply for Medicine???
PS- I thought you are not supposed to do tertiary studies before if you want to apply for med in monash or am I mistaken?

Thanks soooooooooooo much!
