Hey guys
I am a NSW HSC graduate who attained 99+ATAR, 97/100 in Advanced English and 48/50 in Extension 1 English.
Throughout my HSC Year I noticed the low quality of English textbooks compared to more 'solid' subjects such as Maths and Chemistry. It seemed that most English textbooks consisted of a vague deconstruction of the syllabus and summaries of texts, but did not provide any truly practical advice that would help a student improve their writing.
There also seems to be a lack of direction in classrooms- many of my tutoring students began Year 11 without knowing how to structure an essay beyond the basic 'PEEL' method or how to analyse a scene, extract literary techniques, write a creative, ADAPT TO EXAM QUESTIONS, and so forth.
A few years onwards, I decided to write a textbook that would be sufficient on its own to guide students into achieving a Band 6 mark in Advanced English. Detailed, insightful deconstruction of the syllabus, practical guides to writing, and Band 6 examples using texts from the 2017 Advanced English syllabus.
