Messenger: Aegeus you are in grave danger. There is talk of your helping the sorceress Medea if you do this your city will be in grave danger
Aegeus: What is this danger you speak of? Medea promised me children in exchange for safe passage although she warned me she would take revenge on Jason
Messenger: Medea took revenge on Jason but she is also "child killer". I have many horrific stories to tell
Aegeus: Are you sure tell me all you have heard I must act upon your evidence. Don't be in too much haste, tell your story
Messenger: Medea's revenge upon Jason begun with a horrific plan. We as servants of Corinth had sympathized with Medea as we knew the severity of Jason's horrific betrayal. Medea hatched a plan to make "corpses of three of my enemies, the father, his daughter, and my husband." One of my fellow servants told Medea the news of the king and daughters horrific murder and urged Medea to flee. However, Medea laughed and had delight in hearing the tale. She had killed the king of the land and was only worried about hearing the story of "how they perished." This was not Medea's only act after she had killed Jason's wife and father she told her servants that she must end Jason's legacy. This is the part that Medea became "Child Killer". I was sitting amongst her children inside their house and ever so slightly the doors began to open. Medea came in elegantly striding ever confident and wielding a sword much like a man. She portrayed power her face was bland but full of commitment. As she began striding towards the children with sword in hand we started to worry for the children’s life. She began muttering to herself weighing up the momentous decision she was about to make. Her tone as was full of anger and pain “that vile Jason I must destroy his legacy” but then in an instant Medea changed from the sorceress to an appealing mother she cried out in anguish to nobody about how wronged she felt “O please not my children O please.” The pain of the decision went on for minutes and Medea was so indecisive for one moment we servants thought she would turn around and spare her children. However, to our disappointment it seemed that this moment of “weakness” had caused Medea to focus. Her face once again became emotionless she slowly but meaningfully ran towards her children and began screaming “YOU ARE JASON’S NOT MINE” and then in one almighty moment of monstrosity she talked herself into committing the vilest act. “Come Medea you must.” This for the children was the moment they began to run, their faces became petrified and together with a final stand of family they tried to hide, together. This was to no avail as the sorceress Medea was upon them like a cheetah. The children began to scream for help, but it was no use as Medea tore through the first child’s heart and sang with joy “a broken heart for a broken heart. “The second children begged with his mother for his life but even the child knew it was their last moment. We sat in shock as she attacked again the floor became red. Although lying still the children’s mouths were still open from the screaming before their deaths. And their facial expressions full of shock. Medea yelled with pure excitement “I’ve ended his legacy. ” However, this moment of joy was quickly overcome as the magnitude of what she had done instantly hit her and the wind was blown out of her sails. She hit the ground emotionless and began to call the name of her children. She began looking upon the corpses of children and remembering her dream of them looking after her when she was older and them looking after her. Her pain and anguish then became aimed at “the traitor Jason.” However, as ever changing as the ocean Medea knew she must escape and summoned all gods for help. We servants sat and watched as she gathered her children’s lifeless bodies and suddenly above us there was a golden chariot pulled by dragons. Medea sat in her chariot and waited ever patiently for Jason to walk through the door. As Jason came Medea began her verbal attack in the position of complete power. Jason began to lament his troubles as he revelled in the pain of his legacy being lost. “You abomination” and labelled his wife as “not a woman but a lioness.” Medea then disappeared and Jason was left with what he had left. In the next hours, the city of Corinth was in shock Medea’s attack on the crown was unfathomable to many. The new king (Creon’s Brother) explained why Medea must never return and anybody who assists Medea is an enemy. In this speech given to the Corinth people he made Jason an exile for “his part in murdering my family” The people of Corinth spoke of a lady flying in a golden chariot pulled by dragons heading towards Athens. My city was alight with the sound of thundering footsteps as people ran sharing stories of horror. I have come here to warn you that Medea has done many evils and to share with you a message from the new king. “If your city attempts to aid Medea in any way you will be enemies of Corinth.” I will say nothing now as what lies in store for you if you help Medea but you must understand you will not evade punishment. As for you king Aegeus I believe you are alike Jason so don’t become a shadow and stop thinking as then you may become the greatest fool. For no one in this life of ours knows foolishness. As a fool knows himself as wise and a wise man knows himself a fool.

Servant: My king the mistress Medea is here…
Written Explanation
I have decided to write a speech delivered by the messenger to Aegeus in Athens as an extension to Euripides’ existing play, “Medea,” and delivered at the end of the existing play. Although Euripides’ original ending finishes with the unknown as what is next for Medea. I want to finish the play in a modern fairy-tale where there isn’t anything left to the imagination and find out if Medea’s final plan is successful. I feel this will help the audience understand the connection between actions and consequences. It will also give readers a greater understanding of what lingering effects the sorcerers name has on Medea. The messenger will also be able to share news from the city of Corinth which will give the audience a greater understand of the extent of Medea’s revenge
In my speech, the messenger will share with Aegeus all of Medea’s murderous actions, her attack upon the Corinth crown murdering king and daughter. I will also share how she came to wear the label “child killer” and portray this murderous act with vivid imagery as the murder of king and daughter is described in the original. I will focus upon keeping my tone consistent throughout my story as the Messenger retells the story rather than taking a side.
To have my extension to the play gel with the original ending I will adopt Euripides language and use the same language devices as the Messenger uses in the play. This will include direct quotes, writing from 3rd person, metaphors and similes. As in Euripides novel the messenger finishes his speech by reflecting on philosophical/greeting meaning of what they have just explained. I will end my novel in the same way. To keep consistent with the original of the play I will have Medea refer to herself as a in third person and continue to pray to the Greek gods. This will allow the audience to further understand her dualistic nature and how Medea can separate herself from her violent acts and how she remains sane. This would allow me to showcase to the audience how even the sorceress Medea feels remorse and portray how she blames others for her hideous actions. I will also aim to keep Euripides’ themes of injustice, manipulation and betrayal
Ultimately, I would envisage this speech would add to Euripides’ original play and be a part of a collection of “gaps in the narrative” and “extension to the narrative.” This collection of novels will focus on continuing Euripides’ writing style but add a modern flair to the original novel. The collection would be named “Euripides Today”
Anybody have any tips thanks in advance
