When you say "really mean", I interpret this in two ways, 1. Constantly harassing you and actively trying to make your life at school a living hell (the most legitimate form of a really mean person) or 2. Being exclusionary (many people don't consider people like that to be really nice although they are not actively bullying you). For the first interpretation, really rare if at all, I experienced it in year 9 (it was mostly a year 9 thing, when people from MHS and Mac.rob were really crazy about getting to know each other), when people try to portray you as a 'slut' and make up stories about you and spread rumours about it, but this happens in most girls schools. Apart from that though, it terms of the typical bullying and harassment stuff, probably a lot more rare than other schools (I've never heard stories of extreme bullying). In terms of the second one, the majority of people are nice and friendly (not that the minority are mean, but they can be a bit exclusionary), but as with many schools, cliques form sometimes and most people have experienced times when someone stops being your friend more reasons you don't know why (that doesn't make those people mean, sometimes friendships just runs its course).
