How to fill out EAS?

Hi guys! I just have a question for any past students who submitted an EAS form and successfully got through!

I'm trying to apply for the family tax benefit scheme and socio-economically disadvantaged school (in year 11, not 12), and am having trouble of that box that askes you to "describe how you have been disadvantaged". I know I've been disadvantaged for various reasons, like not being able to buy textbooks, or visit study days due to costs involved and having a bad school environment. But I feel like these reasons would easily be disputed and when I write them down, it doesn't seem worthy of an EAS application  :-\ . My sentences are literally just "not having money to buy textbooks..." which isn't really sophisticated for a formal answer.  :-[  :-[

This is my last hope into getting the course that I want to, and would really appreciate any tips on how to structure my answer. Thank you!!  :)

Hi there =). I did apply for EAS at one point and I was successful.

Not being able to access resources or services is a perfectly good reason to be disadvantaged. Put those down anyway.

RE your structure, write a paragraph on each.  E.g.  One for not being able to get textbooks or print etc, one for not being able to access tutoring etc.

Ok thank you! Phew, it's a huge relief that you just gave me the a-ok. I can finally breathe easy and write a solid answer.

THANK YOU!

Breathe easy my friend =)

Family tax benefit scheme and socio-economically disadvantaged school will get you in anyway (if your family does have FTB A or FTB, B), and if your school is in a poor area.

Not sure why you're applying in year 11 but anyways, for both Family Tax Benefit A(F01D) and Socio-economically disadvantaged school(S01E), you do not need to write an EIS (educational impact statement). So don't worry and waste your time on writing an essay of some sort. Details are found in this booklet: http://www.uac.edu.au/documents/eas/eas-booklet.pdf

Hello! Just wondering, is it possible that EAS denies my application if I have Family Tax Benefit A(F01D)?
I am also applying for E12 at usyd, does anyone know if just FTB A is enough to be eligible? Thanks!

I don't think UAC can deny your F01D application unless it was a mistake and you don't receive Family Tax considering you literally put down your centrelink number. The amount of bonus points allocated does vary however, according to the level of disadvantage and how much you receive.

E12 is closed for this year but if you're in year 11: Yes! Family Tax is enough to be eligible. I did it!

Will E12 care about my level of disadvantage? Because I'm receiving the lowest amount of family tax right now  :-\
I'm in year 12 actually :D I received conditional offer today but I am worried that usyd will reject me because I'm not disadvantaged enough

Congratulations on your offer! I'm still waiting for mine... The conditions on the offer is only on ATAR requirement and yes or no on EAS. Usyd doesn't really care much about your level of disadvantage for e12, just whether you have it or not. I don't think you will be rejected.
