Hey, I just wanted to get peoples opinions of engineering in Usyd. Id be glad if someone who currently is doing engineering there to give some info about the environment, resources, and future opportunities Usyd provides. I plan on doing software engineering, and if I get a good enough ATAR, im tossing between UNSW and USyd for software engineering.

Thanks in advance :)

Not at USYD, but doing Electrical at UNSW which exposes me to their Computer Science (~Software Engineering) facilities a tonne. Two cents:

- UNSW Computer Science is incredible. Great lecturers, great facilities, never been dissatisfied with a course from that school.
- UNSW and USYD are ranked 35th and 36th respectively in the QS World Rankings in the field, so at least from that perspective, both great courses :)

Hmm im hearing a lot of good things about UNSW and especially their engineering faculties. Im just a bit unsure since I think I may be able (with the right ATAR) to get a nice scholarship at Usyd thats worth more than a scholarship i can get from UNSW so it makes it difficult to me choose; do you (or anyone else) have any advice as to decide between better/more appealing uni vs. better scholarship??

I was tossing between UNSW and UTS, picked UNSW purely because I got a scholarship - No idea what I would have done otherwise.

I think you’ve got two appealing universities, so if one wants to pay you to go there, I’d take it! Did you go to the Open Days? Campus vibe is another deciding factor

Not for Usyd, but i went to UNSW - the campus vibe was perfect for me there, really liked it

USYD has a similar campus vibe, but slightly less modern and more traditional to my perspective. I personally preferred UNSW's vibe over any of the other campuses I went to ;D
