hey, will we need to know DNA replication/ is it on the current study design or has it been removed?
thanks in advance  :)

You'll need to know about DNA replication, but probably not the extent that one did on past courses. From memory (you might like to cross check this), you're expected to understand the synthesis of all biomacromolecules. What that means in practical terms is hard to determine, given there was only one exam, but textbooks can be used as a guide. Most textbooks that I've seen don't go into the specifics of DNA replication, but do seem to make at least some reference to it.

I learnt it just in case. I can give you the steps if you can't find them in your textbook

I would say no - only because it was explictly stated on the study design in unit 4 in the past (2013-16) now it is somewhere in units 1-2 and never referenced in units 3/4. Although it doesn't hurt to have an understanding of it especially since it's a really important process.

If you're referring to biological replication so meiosis and Mitosis than no its not on the Unit 3/4 study design but you'll learn in unit 4 about DNA fragment replication techniques such as PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction)

dna rep. is in the study design for 1&2 but you need to know it for 3&4 however it's not in the study design for 3&4

In my 3&4 bio class we have learnt DNA replication and I’m pretty sure it’s in the textbook (jacaranda), however not in that much detail. The stuff to do with helicase/DNA Polymerase/replication fork etc. isn’t explicitly mentioned in the study design but it does have to do with some dot points as background info I guess. It’d be best to know it but double check with your teacher!
