EBBS JMSS and VCE trouble

Hi guys!

So I'm currently in year 11 at JMSS and not doing any 3/4 subjects. That's because in year 10, due to family issues I did not do well in exams and did not make the 75% average mark to do a 3/4. I understand the importance of completing 6 3/4 subjects and as JMSS does not allow you to do 6 3/4s in year 12 I was wondering if EBSS does. Also, if I was to move schools now, would I be allowed to do a 3/4 in another school as Term 1 is already gone?? ((probably not, just wondering))
I would either do Methods, English, Chem, Bio, Hindi, EI or Methods, English, Bio, Further, Hindi, Chem in year 12 at EBBS.

I'm delayed in taking action and need help catching up! I'm keen to work VERY HARD to do 6 subjects as a high atar is important to me (high ATAR course). Also, I'm flexible with the subjects I do as long as its 6 all together!! I just don't know if EBBS allows 6 subjects in year 12, as they recommend 7 all together, perhaps they do?

Thankyou

Hi there :)

First off, I think it'd be very unlikely for any school to allow you to pick up a 3/4 having missed term 1 (even if you are really motivated to catch up!), as you'll have already missed SACs and such, and it could disturb the structure of the timetable and all that.

Second, you don't have to do 6 subjects to get a high ATAR. The person who got the second highest ATAR at my school (like, 0.05 behind the dux or something like that) did 5 subjects! And I'm sure heaps of other people have stories similar to mine of people who have done 5 subjects scoring really highly.
For me, the difference in my ATAR if I completely took out my 6th subject  was tiny. I think it was like, 0.3 of a difference, if that? And that difference could easily be made up by scoring one or two points higher in a top 4 subject.

I wouldn't rush into moving schools, either :) whilst school definitely is about academics, it's not only about that. It's about the memories and friendships you make, and how you grow as a person over your adolescence. Would you be willing to move schools and move away from your friends for this? It's probably a good thing to ask yourself.
