Bad SAC mark

Hey there!

So a few days ago I got my first SAC mark for bio. This accounts for half of unit 3, and I didn't get the result I was looking for. I got 68% on this SAC, and was wondering if a 45+ study score was still possible to get. I know that ranks are the main thing, but I'm not too sure of the rank at the moment. Of the few people that have told me their result, most have been getting around the mid 70's. Also, the cohort is pretty strong.

Thanks for any help!

yes if it's a cohort that is strong it is definitely possible. You could maybe ask your teacher for the distrbution of marks or your ranking if you really wanted to.

Other than that you are better of not worrying about something you can't change and work towards the things you can e.g. next sac/next unit

Hey,
Just wanted to point out that Unit 3 is only worth 16% of your study score, so this SAC was worth 8% of your total study score.

It will definitely be very difficult to get 45+ not just because of your score but because it is very unlikely that you will suddenly go from 68% to 100%

I assume that the people that you have asked are your friends so they are probably not representative of your cohort.

I don’t know much about calculating study scores, but if you got 100% on every SAC and the exam I would think that you would get 45+ So it is possible.

Go through your SAC and if you got questions wrong because you don’t know the content, consider getting a tutor or asking your teacher/us a ton of questions. If you got them wrong because you ran out of time or misread the question, you need to do lots of practice questions.

tl;dr I think it’s possible, but it would require a lot of work.

Thanks for that! You're right, I should probably just focus on my next sac instead of worrying about this one.

Thanks for the help. So is 8% of the overall SS not that much then?

I saw that you got a SS of 44 in bio. If you don't mind me asking, what were you averaging throughout the year in sacs and how well did your exam go? Just really want some reassurance so I can take my mind off this haha.

Each of your SACs is worth 8% (2 unit 3 SACs, 3 unit 4 SACs) your exam is worth 60% so compared to that it’s not much.

My SAC marks won’t be particularly useful to you because I had a weak cohort (I was the only one who got 40+) so my SACs would have been easier than yours but I got:
1. 94%
2. 76%
3. 97%
4. 95%
Poster: 82%
Exam: 205/240 which is 85%. The A+ range was 190-240.
