Any information would be appreciated.

I will more than likely be going down this path with my career.

i think it has to do with advising business on how to manage themselfs more efficiently (probebly in HR)
possibly helping business adapt to changes, new practices etc

I would also like to know more about this - is it usually a standalone role, or hired (e.g.: with the Boston Consulting Group)?

You'd definitely need experience before you get hired (the chicken or the egg problem) as a consultant.

This is just speculation: So it might help to start up some shitty uninnovative business just to show you can make a business succeed, haha - as a credibility indicator.

so start ur own business, give urself the title of management consultant hence giving u experience (on paper at least).....so shifty it just could work lol

Do you think you really need experience? I don't think so Collin. Like any career, many organisations offer graduate entry positions. There is a PDF document i downloaded last week from the ECSS website (google it) that had stuff on management consulting and all the differnt firms and stuff but I cant find it anymore. Try find it on google.

Here is a video from Deloitte, consulting division about WHAT management consulting is
http://careers.deloitte.com/australia/students/wdyf.aspx?FunctionID=11

There was also an info night on consulting run by the ECSS last year. I will go to this years. Here is what they had on the website regarding the night.

onsulting Industry Information Session & Case Study Workshop

Date: Thursday 8th October

Time: 5pm - 7pm

Location: H5, Menzies Building, Clayton

In conjunction with the LSS and MESS, the ECSS is proud to be launching the inaugural Consulting Industry Information Session & Case Study Workshop.

Consulting is a diverse, challenging and exciting industry that offers some of the most highly paid and sought after graduate positions to students of all degrees.

The session will feature representatives from leaders in the industry, Bain & Company, Accenture, Deloitte Consulting, IBM, and The Allen Consulting Group speaking about their experiences in the industry and their transition from university. Following the information session, the representatives from Bain & Company and Deloitte Consulting will be running interactive case study workshops in which they will discuss what a case study involves, why it makes for the one of the most challenging application processes, and how to ‘ace the case’!

*****Unfortunately places in the workshops are strictly limited so if you are interested in attending you are required to RSVP to [email protected] with the subject ‘Consulting’*****

HOPE THIS HELPS and everyone else try find stuff on management consulting
