Giving me a peace of mind about entering my desired course

Hey guys I hope your having a wonderful break from school. I achieved an atar of 86.8 and my desired course is to go to the Bachelor of Arts in Melbourne university. I satisfied the prerequisites but I’m concerned because the course is so popular the clearly in rank is going to increase significantly. My question is will I likely get a spot for next year? The website says that 85 atar is the minimum to be offered a course, and the lowest selection rank was 85 last year too.

I’m pretty sure I am also eligible for access Melbourne, I received a text message saying I am potentially eligible for the financial disadvantage category from the university (my mother receives tax a from Centrelink) so should I stop worrying and be happy? Thanks, also I actually attended the information course day but the staff couldn’t give me any certainty.

Edit: I also go to a recognised under represented school from the uni if that means anything

You’ll be okay. Your chances seem pretty good based on what you’ve posted above. Clearly ins also don’t change much unless you’re going for a course that requires means other than ATAR to get in e.g. an interview, so you should be good to go.

Hope that brings you the peace of mind you asked for. :)

If you're from an underrepresented school according to unimelb, then you should be "guaranteed" a spot according to them, as your ATAR is well above the 80 according to the Access Melbourne scheme.

Hey! I actually achieved the same ATAR as you and was also considering Melbourne Arts, although I did change it to Monash. Funny coincidence.
I honestly think you’ll be fine though. Universities, especially ones like Melbourne and Monash which have consistently high admission numbers, don’t tend to change the clearly-in drastically from year to year. They do end up going down sometimes, so that’s always nice. Congrats though!
