I hated Question 17.
Question 17
A task performed by a network operating system (NOS) includes
A. saving a file to a laptop hard drive.
B. authenticating users' access to the network printer.
C. changing the mouse click speed for a new user at a workstation.
D. displaying an alert when a flash drive is first plugged into a workstation.
As someone who works in network management - a "NOS" (eg: Windows Server 2003 for example) can do B, C or D.
Most schools use Group Policy to roll out things like C to stop kids changing them and stuffing the computers up for the next person, with themes or backgrounds or - in this case - dodgy mouse speeds.
The Group policy (pushed out by the "NOS") refreshes these settings based on the masters every time the computer is booted.
D is similar - those alerts can be turned on or off and then pushed out via Group Policy.
I went for C myself since it seemed the most appropriate of choices.
The correct answer was B. Although, technically a NOS doesn't authenticate users access to a printer, it authenticates the users access to the
network. The user then automatically gets the printers set out in the GP or SecPol.
Am I going too deep here?
