Am I Doomed?
« on: August 12, 2010, 12:38:24 am »
I'm currently in year 12, but I didn't undergo year 11. I actually came in during the 2nd term  which was halfway through the 1st sem.

So far my SACs score as follows(1st sem):

English: A A+ A
PE: B A+ A+ A
Business Management: A+ A A A+
Physics: C+ B+ A (Mid-Year was a C+) and i think i'll get a B on the SAC i just had a while ago..
Math Methods CAS: C C C
LOTE: A A+ A+ A

Does anyone know if its possible for me to get a 30 in physics and a 25 in methods? And an ATAR of atleast 85? I really want to get into Monash..

And is there any way for me to contact VCAA and ask for a special consideration since i missed over 1 term worth of studies for each subject that i did?

Someone please enlighten me because I'm really losing hope because from what I've read.. a 30 for my physics and a 25 for MM isn't possible based on my scores..  :'(

Cheers.
2010: English - Math Methods - PE - Physics - Business Management - LOTE

Don't ever do VCE without Year 11 and missing one Sem of Year 12. Believe me its quite a pain.

All possible man. exams havn't even started yet and SACs don't make up much.

I don't think you'll get special consideration for missing term 1 unless there was a good reason you started late.

Just study hard for exams and you should be sweet

Well for methods, those are just SAC scores, exams are the most important, if you do well on your exam 1 + exam 2, 25 for MM should be very achievable.

Yeah you're pretty much doomed.
Jk. You're going fine, and getting As or even A+s for a LOTE! Very good work! Like the others have said, it's really all up to the exams, so work hard for them :)

well for methods, our teacher gives us really hard sacs.. everyone else gets near my score. highest would be a B for us.

Even if your teacher gave really easy SACs, Cs would definitely be good enough for a 25.

You're only doomed in an existential sense. In terms of grades, you're actually doing pretty well.

With special consideration for missing a term: I think you should be able to get it, personally, but I don't know anything about the official stance. In any case, you probably wouldn't be able to get it from the VCAA, but the universities you apply to may be able to help you. Ask around, email people in admissions particularly.

Lastly, it's difficult to tell how you're actually doing because you haven't sat any exams. If you do well in those, the grades you've been getting for SACs will become less important. So, to do well, you definitely need to study well for exams. It's too early to be doomed yet!
