hi vn, first post.

i need some help with these questions, 3,5,7, (answers are at the 2nd half of the pic.)

i dont seem to get the right answer. :D :uglystupid2: :idiot2: :2funny:

3. y=tan-1(2x)
.5 tan(y)= x
dx/dy= .5 sec²(y)      -using trigonometric identities
dx/dy= .5 (tan² (y) + 1)
dy/dx= 1/.5(tan²(y) +1) -sub in y=tan-1(2x)
dy/dx= 2/((4x² +1))
d²y/dx²= -2(4x²+1)-².8x
d²y/dx²= -16x/(4x²+1)²

me thinks i've gone wrong somewhere....
