How strict do the examiners mark you on quotes in exams? I was doing Sky Burial and one of my quotes involved something like "she was fearful what such a forecast could bring", but the actual quote was "she was afraid what she can learn from such a revelation"

The wording's completely different, but I think the meaning remains around the same. I used quite a lot of quotes in both my text respones (Not excessively, use them when I need to), and I'm pretty sure I got the rest of them 100% correct.

Would the examiners mark me down on that one quote? Or would they be lenient and let it slide? If they do mark me down, how much would they do it by

Just remember, examiners will be reading your essay in about 2 mins max. They'll either 1) miss it altogether, or 2) read it and think it sounded about right because they'll have no time to check it I would imagine.

My teacher actually told me bout an examiner back when he examined for English, who used to flick through the essay in about 30 secs and make his judgment based on that. Bit of a worry ...

ive heard that now all exams are marked in some building rather than the comfort of the examiners home... would be a worry to get your essay corrected after 5 hours+(no idea how long they spend actualy) of exam correcting

I heard that misquoting is fine as long as you still keep the same meaning of the original quote

'Written Examinations are assessed in June and October/November. In some studies assessors are required to complete all marking at the VCAA Assessment Centre. In most studies assessors take examination papers home for marking.' [https://www.ssms.vic.edu.au/public/home/Sessional%5FWork/VCE%5FExaminations/Examination%5FAssessors/]

i love the fact you can quote one word and it's still regarded as a quote
such as "free"
that's a quote
or any random word, as long as it was in the text and is relevant
cause i forgot some quotes

Yes, what about if someone writes a load of junk for their eassy(say 10 pages/essay), would the markers actually read it all?
