Is there a formula for this?

Would there possible be a formula to work out number of amino acid arrangement possible for X amino acids? Such as in dipeptide there can be 2 and tripeptide is 3

Sure is.

For n there will be n!.

If it asks for ALL arrangements like if you have alanine and glycine and you COULD have ala-ala then its simply 2^2 = 4. Or rather, n^2

This is basically derived from permutations.
