you don't need 3/4 at all, i haven't done the 1/2 (as i was thrown into the 3/4 a week into school due to timetable issues) and i'm currently ranked 1 with a high average.
so you can definitely do amazing without the 1/2

it's more memorising than i ever imagined it would be.
that is it so not my thing at all, it's pretty dry- some of aos 2 for unit 3 was ok as it was biology but so basic that i lost interest.
yet, if you put in heaps of work, its easy to do well :)

haha
well it's not really a challenge in the slightest...
just try and keep up and make massive notes and memorise it all, doing heaps of prac questions over time and then do like 20 prac exams at the end of the year, repeating anything you got wrong, and you should be guaranteed an amazing score.
but i guess the challenge is if you can do all this and not waste time and keep motivated?

Unit 1/2 is not really related to Unit 3/4 at all.
The basics of Unit 1/2 can provide some help with Unit 3/4 such as knowing the muscle contractions but they aren't needed to be known in depth. Most people I know (me included) didn't do it in year 11 and seem to be doing alright provided you ask plenty of questions and just pick up the little details which can give you the edge. :)

lol contractions is such a small area of the course. Its more of the same stuff though. If you have an interest in sport, nutrition, exercise, etc. you should be able to relate the stuff you learn to your area of interest and then take it all in easier. For instance I go to the gym, I watch my diet, I do all that stuff and every now and then I learn something in PE that I can apply to make my lifestyle better. You can self-reference everything and thus remember it easier too.
