Hgih school GPA for admission to US colleges

How do the institutions calculate it?
The NCAA (college athletics) has GPA requirements to be eligible to participate in sport and to calculate it for Australians they use the statement of marks from just 3+4 subjects, which is great.
Im wondering if the institutions use just year 12 or if they use grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 like they do for US students?

I'm pretty sure that for standard applications, they use year 10-12, but in those cases it's holistic and it's not the only important thing. I can't help in respect to sports though; it might depend on the institution.

you send you academic transcrip to them, but you first have to do the SAT which are subject tests that are a requirement for them to even consider you.

hmmm. Yeah SAT and ACT are alright, im fine with those its just my transcript, apart from this year, is shithouse.
I know that they make exceptions for student-athletes though (like qualifying with the bare minimum) so maybe they can work something out about my GPA.
I could probably just wait it out a year and go to UoMelb then transfer if worst comes to worst.

lol i doubt they give a f about the enter score or study scores. just how well you go on your vce exams. I think you need to place in the top half of your graduating class too, which shouldnt be hard.

i havent sat the SAT or ACT yet. I hear average is like 500/800 for the 3 sections of the SAT so hopefully I can get higher than that and itll be enough. I know standford is like 670/800 for critical reading and maths. Thatd be my ideal location but theres plenty of schools id go to.

mm, well a mate got into yale, got 2200 in his sat 1's and 2300 in his sat 2's and said your enter score is like a cut off thing but after you have a good enough enter they just look at your sats. He said the writing is the most important cuz everyone shits on science and maths./

yeah i think you must just need to get higher than 50 on your enter and higher than half your graduating year.
i suck at maths so id need to do a fair bit of prep for that. critical reading i have done some practice tests and im good at that section. the essay writing section cant be too hard...

and james Lu got 2400

thats good for me i guess. i think the maths is more arithemtic. i tested in like the 92nd percentile for arithmetic when i did an IQ test a couple of years ago. I just hate formulas and shit because if the concept doesnt click in my head instantaneously im to lazy to work through it. so i just do further and dont try in that. =/
