I don't know why you're aiming for a 37 SS from the outset. You have plenty of time to get your essays to 8 or 9 standard.

Get on the essay marking program, and keep submitting your essays for marking!

Beaten to it. You've got ages, aim for 45+ and work really hard!
especially since english has to be on your top 4 and can be enjoyable when explored properly.

Straight 8's should get you a 40.

Straight 9's a 45, but it varies of course.

Those two scores also require good marks on all your SACs as well.

You would basically need high responses on every essay so about a 8 to 8.5.
This would be along with a very strong rank since English is the most competitive.

It is not only what you do for English - make sure you have a decent shot at the writing tasks in the GAT as well. Your score in these will be used to moderate your English scores. there is no guarantee from one year to the next that a 7.5 x3 or an 8 x 3 witll guarantee a score of x. GAT results will alter the exact figures as everyone is ranked and your results are compared to your ranking.

GAT doesn't affect your scores.

No, not directly. But for English it is used in the moderation process.
